A CONTEMPORARY NIGHTMARE
(Dead bodies of members of the cult «Temple of People» in Guiana. They killed themselves by drinking lemonade mixed with cyanogen and drugs.) By the time you are reading these lines, thousands of human lives have been wounded or definitely destroyed or have been terminated because of shifty and dangerous theories and practices, being advertised as liberating, hygenious and innocent. CULTS USE:
Cults are divided into: 1) Religious: they have the character of a religion with hierarchy, a particular ritual for worship and celebrations. They are responsible for trading upon people, breaking families off and ceremonial suicides. 2) Healing: they use practices that are not accepted by medicine. They are responsible for the avoidance of the classic medicine, having as a result the aggravation of an already bad health or even death. 3) Cults of self-knowledge: They promise development, improvement of the existing abilities and getting new ones, evolution of personality êáé self-accomplishment of man . They are responsible for monomanias, obsession, neurological disorders, psychological problems, breaking off families, suicides. 4) Political Cults: They have visible or invisible goals; get involved in national or international problems. 5) Commercial Cults: They sell services (seminars, lectures) as well as books, magazines, even confectionery. They are responsible for distortion of personalities, financial drainage, trading upon people. 6) Cults of the youth: They address mainly to youth. They do whatever all the others do. 7) Satanic or Cults of "ceremonial sacrifices". They do orgies, animal sacrifices, even human sacrifices. They are responsible for promoting prostitution, drug-addiction and murders.
Our society is literally plagued by groups, organizations and sects -to say it in one word cults- that with the excuse of religious freedom, proselytize unsuspecting fellow-men and make them their weak-willed instruments. With enticements such as "self-knowledge", "world salvation" and "redemption from oncoming suffering", the victims of these sects abandon parents, husbands, wives and children, give up their studies, their job or give away their income to these organizations, while at many times work hard in order to propagate the group ideology without being paid at all. Some of these groups are considered as "sects" (Jehovah's Witnesses), while some others which belong to the area of parareligion (Scientology, Hare Krisna and others) are characterized as "Destructive Cults".
MANY "CULTS" PROMISE: SELF-KNOWLEDGE, BETTER HEALTH, HAPPINESS, FREEDOM, WORLD SALVATION, OVERCOMING OF FEAR, EVOLUTION OF PERSONALITY, AUTHENTIC TRANSLATION OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES ACCEPTANCE AND LOVE -WITHIN THE GROUP- DOMINATION OVER THE OUTER CONDITIONS...
...AND LEAD TO: EXPLOITATION SURRENDER TO THE AUTHORITY OF THE GROUP OR TO ITS MESSIAH IDEOLOGY CONFUSION EMOTIONAL DISORDERS NEUROLOGICAL DAMAGE PERSONALITY DISTORTION FINANCIAL DRAINAGE, SEXUAL RAPE PROMOTING PROSTITUTION USE - TRADING OF DRUGS CRIME (BURGLARIES, KIDNAPPINGS, MURDERS, MURDER ATTEMPTS), SUICIDE-DEATH !
In Greece the only specialized organization to face such cases is the PPU (Panhellenic Parents Union for the protection of the family and the individual). It is also the only organization that cooperates with the Orthodox Church of Greece. PPU has been facing lots of such incidents while its members are quite often sued by the all economically powerfull "cults", which are not so much interested to win a lawsuit but only to discourage those who try to uncover them.
